Johnny Katharsis ist kein Unbekannter in Deutschraps Untergrund. Mit der 2LP „Sanfter Terrorismus“ und dem Nachfolger „1984“ macht er ab 2013 als Solokünstler auf sich aufmerksam. Nebenbei definiert er um diese Zeit, zusammen mit seiner ersten und einzigen Crew, den Funkverteidigern, das Soundbild von samplelastigem Deutsch-Rap neu und bringt Leipzig auf die musikalische Landkarte. Nicht nur frische Vinyls mischt er regelmäßig unters Volk, sondern veröffentlicht auch – unter seinem bürgerlichen Namen John Sauter – Hörstücke, Gedichte und Beiträge in Literaturzeitschriften. Mit dem Release seines zweiten Buches „Zone“ (erscheint bei Edition Azur / Voland & Quist) wird er im Frühjahr 2021 ein weiteres Stück seiner phantastischen Welt präsentieren.
