On Work: Overcoming obstacles

Overcoming the person before us: impact or lack of in our job:

As another week is upon us and some of us deal with the public, at times dealing with unhappy situations, I searched for some new ways to deal with and approach disgruntled patrons:

While LinkedIn is normally not my go to, what this article says is important.

1. Listen to the complaint, or issue even if we cant solve it, just getting off their chests the frustratingly long wait, or the fact they just lost their job and this the last place they want to be, its important to hear them. Sometimes when I have an excessive complainer, I respond with, “I understand that is difficult, but the wonderful thing is you live in a country where you have access to running water and a toilet to use. That is more than 75% of the world”.
I literally hate constant complaining because we all have issues, we all have problems, however it’s not our problems is how we deal with them. Turning the complaint to a feeling of gratefulness leaves a huge impact.

2. Offer a solution, if you can offer reprieve even for a few moments that will help sell any product. I look at their complaint as an opportunity. “Here, let’s escape that world for a few and play”. Being able to entice someone into a good mood is not just a social skill its an amazing tool to add to your sales tool belt. So l am going to look at this as a perfect opportunity to get in there.

Finally adding value is important in many ways; but leaving a positive, professional impression is vital for our success here and in any future endeavor we take on. Life is so short, having fun makes all the difference in life, if someone is not having fun, show them how. Add substantial long lasting value by treating people with the utmost dignity. Even if they just threw a chair threw the window of the cell phone store. :)

How we respond to chaotic situations says a lot about our character. Having class has nothing to do with money or economics or even social status, exuding class is a choice and its taking a breath before we make a judgement call, its the antithesis of judgment. A person with the ultimate class sees everyone as a person but treats everyone like a CEO; no matter where they come from, who they know, what color they are, class is learned and refined over time, its something intentional and a way to greatness.
I am reminded also of one of the best ted talks I still use to this day.
We all have confident issues and as a woman, being bold and determined is often categorized as pushy or overbearing where our male counterparts are seen as enthusiastic and determined. Our body language says everything about us. Having an inclusive approach while maintaining a determined can do attitude can be awkward at first, when I do these poses before I engage with a client or in this case enter a store the results are dramatic in how I feel about myself.
If this article helped you feel free to share! Happy Monday and go kill it out there no matter what you do!
